Circular Ambisonics system can be thought as a ring or as a cylinder built of loudspeakers. For the implementation of the ring 12 loudspeakers are positioned on one equal height of about 3 meters (ring_hoch). With this number of speakers we produce a Ambisonics system 5th order in one plain. This leads us to a quite sufficent angle resolution for a good perception of sound source positions inside of the environment.

To implement the cylinder another ring of 12 loudspeakers is positioned on the ground which are rotated by 15 degrees in order to have an equidistant loudspeaker distribution (ring_tief).

Because of the doubling of the number of loudspeakers we now increased the Ambisonics order to achieve a better angle resolution. As a result we had a zig-zack-like movement of a rotating sound source. Therefore we had to go back to a 5th order Ambisonics. Using this configuration, the distribution of the sound field is quite eqal.
